R.I.B.A. was formed in 1997 and quickly grew to become the largest purchasing/marketing group of its kind servicing independent restaurateurs throughout Ontario.
In 2018, R.I.B.A. was purchased by Compass Group Canada, the parent company of Foodbuy.
Foodbuy is Canada's largest foodservice procurement solutions organization, with $2.2 billion purchasing volume spanning the hospitality & leisure, food service, healthcare and education channels.

Why R.I.B.A. Corp. is different from its competitors?
Our group is governed by restaurateurs. Unlike our competitors who claim to be in the industry or have multiple years experience in the industry, we actually own restaurants. We believe that in order to represent the member properly, we better know from first hand experience what the market is experiencing. We live the experience, not preach it!
Secondly, with R.I.B.A. there are no hidden fees! We will not claim something is free when in all actuality it is deducted from future earnings or withheld as reserves. There are no processing fees for cheques or no further administration charges other than our annual membership fee.
Thirdly and probably most important is the equipment rental policy for qualifying accounts. Taking our cold beverage supplier for instance, PBG is obligated to supply our accounts with adequate equipment in accordance to what the account pours. There is no purchase price for the equipment and no hidden maintenance fees if the equipment happens to malfunction. While our equipment policy is free rental with no cost to the account, other groups make you pay for your equipment and will even arrange financing. We are not believers in owning equipment nor are in the business of banking. Why pay for something which you can get free?
Fourthly and as mentioned above, we do not include an irrevocable clause in our membership contract. Other groups include this so that if you wish to change buyer’s groups, your velocity reports are bound. This means the other group will fight so that the volumes remain theirs and you can not take advantage of another program which may be more lucrative.
